Two-Three Year-Old Program The Two’s are a very precious stage of development. Adjusting from being a toddler to going into a more mature environment is always an exciting time. This is also the phase where they are truly learning about themselves and their role as a child. Children enrolled in the two-year old program receive daily instruction in all basic skills: Language Development Social Skills Motor Skills (fine and gross) Music and Movement. Children interact, learn and play with the other children as well as with the teacher, further developing their social skills and behaviors. We provide our two’s with a very open classroom design, giving them the ability to move about, explore and go from one activity to another with ease. Each week’s lesson plan celebrates a different theme that will engage and interest children on many different levels. In our daily routine we encourage the two’s to develop their verbal skills through simple direction and questions. We further encourage their development through outdoor and indoor texture and exploratory play; such as water tables with different items inside, sand, mud, and clay play. We support and engage our two’s in ‘Messy’ play where they learn from mixing, sifting, pouring, stirring and shaping. So while we love seeing your children beautifully dressed, it is important to remember part of growing is getting messy, so have them dressed in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Another major milestone during the two’s is potty-training. While all children go at their own pace, our teachers are outstanding at helping to potty-train your child in a fun and self-empowering way. Children get encouraged to go potty when they see their friends can do it and build self-esteem when their positive reinforcement results in success.
